Tornados Are Scary!

Tornados are the scariest things! Huntsville has been cut off from the world for almost a week due to tornados that ripped through the area April 27. No power, no phones, and no connection with the outside world. We didn't know the destruction and suffering that took place. I'm just now seeing pictures and hearing horror stories of that incredible day. Our morning started with our amazing weather men warning us of the bumpy day that lay ahead. We were also faced with the decision of going to school at all. My middle schooler argument was that it is so not cool to get the perfect attendance award so he won the battle and missed his first day of school. My middle baby boy ran out to the bus while I was fussing over princess's clothes for the day. My plan had been to simple keep them all home. Sirens started and I jumped in the van with no undergarments on top and chased the bus down to get baby boy off the bus. I had to chase it all the way to the school and at that point baby boy and baby girl wanted to stay at school and get crazy half naked mom off school grounds. So I went home to middle school child and before long sirens again. An announcement came that school was closing and I headed back to elementary school to pick up my babies. The school was so organized and I felt so safe having my children there that we thought about staying. This same school was totally destroyed by a tornado and now is a model for other schools in storm safety. We made the decision to leave but baby girl started crying as soon as we headed out side and saw the sky and heard the sirens blaring. At that very moment Alabama was changing. People were dying and homes were being destroyed. The sky was scary. It is not over.
It rained today and tension was in the air. People are morning in Alabama.
